Juvenile FireNET©

Many children experiment with fire often due to curiosity, peer pressure or emotional reasons.  This is a dangerous practice that puts everyone in the community at risk.  FireNET is a collaborative program between the burn center, behavioral health at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and the fire service that intervenes with children, ages 5-17, who have been involved with a fire incident and is designed to provide safety education and therapeutic intervention, when indicated.  Children are referred to program by parents/caregivers, schools, juvenile justice and child welfare/social/healthcare agencies.  To make a referral or to find out more about the program, contact Lisa Jones, Community Burn Educator at 973.322.5682 or lmjones@sbhcs.com.
